The Asia Centre of the University of Tartu is a consortium of shared knowledge of Asia and the Middle East driven by trends in global society.
The Asia Center mediates knowledge about Asia and the Middle East politics, economics, law, society and culture, brings together scientists and experts of various fields and disciplines through participation in international networks with the aim to mediate and influence national policies through research and study-related projects.
The aim of the center is to inform and shape contemporary thinking and understanding of cultural, religious, economic, security and political developments in Asia and the Middle East. Through its activities, the Center supports the promotion of research and teaching of Asia and the Middle East Studies as well as influences Estonia’s economic and cultural life and social development by introducing competencies related to Asia.
The vision of the UT Asia Center is to develop a sustainable internationally recognized center of excellence on Asia and the Middle East Studies.
The mission of the UT Asia Center is to contribute to the development of Estonia by sharing the competence of the University of Tartu towards Asia and the Middle East through study, research and counseling, as well as international cooperation.
