To International Community
The Asia Center is a cross-cutting consortium within the University of Tartu that holds an effective network of relationships and facilitates contacts with partners outside the university. One of strategic goals of the Center is to increase significantly the University's visibility in the landscape of international organisations, academic networks and consortia.
In developing international contacts with universities in Asia and the Middle East, the Center take into consideration impact and opportunities for fruitful academic exchange, joint research, market needs and potential for growth for the University of Tartu and Estonia. Therefore, the Center aims to join existing international academic and professional networks working with or for Asia and the Middle East and support academic mobility for learning and teaching and enhance visibility of research internationally.
Our researchers already established strong cooperation with various Asian and Middle Eastern universities though joint research projects (linkida koostööprojektide lehega), teaching and academic mobility. The university also has long-standing experience in researching languages, religions and cultures in the Middle East and Asia. Nowadays, it is complemented by selection of new disciplines covering medicine, law, international relations and economics.
