University of Tartu organized a doctoral school with researchers from Hue
From 26th until 30th of November, workshop titled Dignity and society - transdisciplinary perspectives took place. Workshop was led by the Asia Center, where Estonian and Vietnamese scientists discuss humanity and its values. This is the first cooperation between Tartu and Hue University where researchers from humanities, social sciences, medicine and natural sciences cooperate.
The interdisciplinary workshop discussed humanity and its values from different perspectives: the humanities, social sciences, medicine, technology and the environment. Alongside Estonian scientists there were presentations by Vietnamese scientists and the opportunity to hear Vietnamese perspectives.
The 5-day study included visits to all four units. Each day focussed on questions about folkloristics, cultural sciences, economics, physics, medicine and law. In addition to teaching, colleagues at Hue University got to know the study buildings, the study organization of the University of Tartu and discuss with colleagues how to set up joint projects. They also visited Estonian National Museum and Estonia’ National University centenary events.
The head of Asia Centre Elo Süld brought out that both visiting and welcoming researchers learned from each other. Also, that Vietnamese students studying in Tartu gave a presentation to visitors about their current hometown. “Every discipline and institute will discuss the further cooperation. At the moment we can confirm that two lecturers from the school of law will give lectures in Vietnam in May.” stated Süld. Also, that the organisation of common doctoral school between Estonian and Vietnamese students, has started and will be held in Hue.
The workshop was organized by the University of Tartu Asian Centre and the Estonian Graduate School of Culture Studies and Arts. The co-organizer are Doctoral School in Economics and Innovation, Doctoral School of Behavioural, Social and Health Sciences, Doctoral Schools of Earth Sciences and Ecology and Functional materials and Technologies, The Doctoral School of Clinical Medicine; Institute of Cultural Research, School of Law, School of Economics and Business Administration, Institute of Physics; School of Clinical Medicine. The event is financed by the University of Tartu ASTRA Project PER ASPERA (European Regional Development Fund), the Faculty of Social Science.
