Organising doctoral schools and supporting continuing education are parts of the University of Tartu Asia Centre’s activities. In cooperation with university institutes, doctoral schools, and international partners, we organise an annual doctoral school aimed at providing students with the opportunity to deepen their knowledge and build connections across different fields and disciplines. The focus is on topics that have the potential to play a greater role in the future development of the University of Tartu as well as in a broader societal context.

In addition to doctoral schools, the Centre supports continuing education related to Asia and the Middle East. We initiate and develop intensive courses, guest lectures, lecture series, and specialised modules in collaboration with international experts. We also contribute to the development of the master’s programme Contemporary Asian and Middle Eastern Studies and promote the teaching of Asian and Middle Eastern languages.

Through continuing education and international cooperation, the Asia Centre creates new opportunities for both students and researchers. If you are interested in Asia-focused continuing education or collaboration, the Centre can help identify suitable partners and supports the implementation of related activities in every way possible.

Information on upcoming doctoral schools and continuing education opportunities can be found at the bottom of our main page under the “Events” section.
