Discussing the cooperation of Asian and global studies programs

On January 14-15, four European universities, Taiwanese universities, and the Taiwan Studies program at the University of Washington and University Wyoming came together for a virtual conference „Post-pandemic World and Global Studies Education in Asia“ to build an academic collaboration with the Asian Studies programs.

Although the outbreak of the Covid-19 virus has raised many problems in the world and affects the trend of globalization, it also provides unforeseen opportunities. The conference aimed at the role of the pandemic and its effect on global studies education, especially for the programs on Asian studies. Participants exchanged experiences on the curriculum design and teaching philosophy and future cooperation, as well.
On behalf of the University of Tartu, participants were Elo Süld (Head of the Asia Centre) and Eva Liias (Programme director of Contemporary Asian and Middle Eastern Studies)
