“Politics and Political Thinking in Communist China” by Dr Robert Weatherley

As of 1 October, Dr Robert Weatherley serves as Visiting Professor of Asian Politics at the Johan Skytte Institute of Political Studies . This semester, he will teach the course “Politics and Political Thinking in Communist China” (online) as of 1 November.

Dr Weatherley is also an affiliated lecturer at the Department of Politics and International Studies/ Institute of Continuing Education at Cambridge University, UK, and a legal adviser and consultant to UK companies planning to invest in China. His research focuses on the (discourse of) nationalism in China, his most recent books include History and Nationalist Legitimacy in Contemporary China: A Double-Edged Sword (London: Palgrave, 2017; co-authored with Zhang Qiang) and Making China Strong: The Role of Nationalism in Chinese Thinking on Democracy and Human Rights (London: Palgrave, 2014).
