Scholarship for PhD fieldwork research in Taiwan

Special call for applications for PhD students in the framework of the "Taiwan Studies Programme" agreement between Ghent University, Groningen University, Georg-August Universität Göttingen, the University of Tartu and the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education (DICE), MoE, Taiwan.

In the framework of the “Taiwan Studies Programme” agreement between Ghent University, Groningen University, the Georg-August Universität Göttingen, the University of Tartu, and the Department of International and Cross-Strait Education (DICE), MoE, Taiwan (2022-2026), a scholarship of Euro 4,383 (four thousand, three hundred and eighty-three Euro) for fieldwork in Taiwan is available. This scholarship regards a round-trip flight between Europe and Taiwan, as well as travel and lodging costs in Taiwan.

Candidates should be enrolled in the PhD programme of either Ghent University, Groningen University, the Georg-August Universität Göttingen, or the University of Tartu. The fieldwork for which the scholarship is applied for, should start prior to 30 September 2023. The successful candidate is requested to mention the award of this scholarship on all publications resulting from this fieldwork.

APPLICATIONS must include:

  • a statement of purpose, including a short description of the research project, and an explanation of how the intended fieldwork is part of the larger research project (maximum 1 A4 page, pitch 12, single interline)
  • a letter of support from the promotor/adviser of the home institution clearly mentioning the start and end date of your planned mobility period in your host institution
  • a letter of acceptance from the relevant host university/academic institute in Taiwan
