“Changes and Continuities in the Religious Landscape of Northeast India"in 19-21 January 2017 Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, Guwahati, India

North Eastern Social Research Centre (NESRC), Guwahati, India Department of Estonian and Comparative Folklore, and the Asian Centre University of Tartu, Estonia presented  the Workshop “Changes and Continuities in the Religious Landscape of Northeast India” in 19-21 January 2017 Don Bosco Institute, Kharghuli, Guwahati, India.

This project explores the rapidly changing religious landscape in Northeast India, an area of very high ethnic, cultural, and religious diversity, one with a high incidence of inter-communal conflict and growing inter-religious tensions. Examining these connections is of great topical importance:  significant new expressions of religious belief have strengthened the ethnic identities of ‘tribal’ communities living in the region.
